The Battle of the Denmark Strait, 24 May 1941.
HMS Hood and HMS Prince of Wales intercept DKM Bismarck and the heavy cruiser DKM Prinz Eugen in the Denmark Strait. Hood exploded 10 minutes into the engagement and Prince of Wales was heavily damaged. Prince of Wales scored 3 hits on Bismarck which forced her to abandon her convoy raiding mission and head for France only to be intercepted by the British Home Fleet and destroyed.
